MENTEES

Mentee Responsibilities

 

· Meet with and contribute to the mentoring group.
· Maintain regular contact with referring counselor.
· Be able to spend at least twenty hours a week in active job search.
· Participate in the evaluation of the program at the end of the mentoring relationship.

 

Mentee Criteria

· Belong to the Iranian-Canadian community.
· Have a professional qualification outside Canada.
· Be seeking employment in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, IT or Food Science.
· Have worked in their profession in the last three years.
· Have no Canadian experience in their profession.
· Be currently undergoing (or expect to receive) some work preparation intervention.
· Demonstrate level 5, work ready English language skills, both spoken and written.
· Be able to spend at least twenty hours a week in active job search.
· Be highly motivated and committed to looking for work in their profession in Canada.
· Be responsive and willing to act on the guidance offered by their mentor.
· Be able to commit to communicating with the mentor based on program requirements.
· Be committed to attending 5 mentoring sessions, not including the launch: two sessions in the first month and then once a month in the subsequent 3 months.
